He Called

I don’t want this moment to ever end
Where everything’s nothing without you
I’ll wait here forever just to, to see you smile
‘Cause it’s true, I am nothing without you

Cookie Jar was heard playing in the distance. She turned her head. It was her phone ringing. A message had gotten through. She reached for her phone, slid it open, fiddled with it’s keys, then froze up.

For the longest time possible, she did not speak, she did not move, she did not even breathe. She merely stared at her phone, as if someone had just died. Then she took a deep breath, fiddled with it’s keys again, and put it down. A few moments later, her phone rang again. She reached for it immediately.

This time, she did not pause or hesitate. It was as if she had already prepared herself for what was coming. The exchanging of messages went on for a while. Til a different sound was heard. She froze up again, the exact same way she did before. But this time, her body went cold. It was a call. One she had to answer, no matter how nervous it made her feel. She did just that. And for hours she just sat there.

Talking.

Laughing.

Crying.

For the first time in what felt like forever, she felt a calm, rush over her. It was a calmness so familiar, yet so strange. It was as simple as that. She could relax. She was calm. And in that moment, she knew, she would be alright. It took her so long to get to that point, that when she finally made it, she felt such relief.

It came as no surprise that she still felt the same way. The surprise was in realising, that she somehow felt comfortable through that conversation. And that night, once more, for the first time in what felt like forever, she went to bed happy and fell asleep smiling.

I’ll wait here forever just to, to see you smile

‘Cause it’s true, I am nothing without you
