Shortie turned 21

I’ve been so busy trying to get everything right with the blogshop template that I really haven’t had time to sign in to blogger through this account. Won’s birthday surprise was a few days back. Partying with Priya sometime this week. Gosh I love birthdays!
p/s : I think I wanna take up photography.

Warisan Merdeka Landmark

“The Warisan Merdeka landmark, a RM5bil project located within the enclave of Merdeka Stadium and Stadium Negara, will change the city skyline”
Do we really need another skyscraper?
There has been an unbelievable amount of backlash since the 2011 budget was announced. And it’s hard to not understand why so many Malaysians feel that way. Is there really a need to spend RM5billion on a new tower despite the fact that office space in KL is already over supplied? And to build it right in the heart of KL city where locals already face the problem of dealing with traffic jams on a daily basis.
The government acts as though the country is rich and the money belongs to them. It never fails to bother me. Why don’t they use it for other projects? Malaysia needs better education, better health care, better public transportation, safer neighbourhoods, cleaner water. RM5billion is more than enough to build brand new schools, make roads/highways connecting to more rural areas, improve on security in housing areas, and the list could go on and on.
Our Prime Minister says “This project is not a waste. The area will also be a business centre for both the bumiputra and the non-bumiputra alike. It can be one of Malaysia’s attraction that will generate and bring profit”.
Now, really. Who do you think would be involved in the construction phase of this project? Remember when the Petronas Twin Tower was built? Argentinian and Haitian designers and architects. Korean and Japanese contractors, one per tower. Imported steel and foreign labour. Who is the government really benefiting here? And once that phase is done, it still fails to benefit us as much as schools / hospitals / factories would. Why bother building a skyscraper and promoting our country to the world when there’s not much yet to be promoted in the first place?
It’s taxpayer’s money, and taxpayers say NO.

I’m seriously considering not blogging anymore. I’m contented with life, just the way it is right now. Also I’ve been busy running around that I don’t really spend much time on the laptop anymore. And whenever I do get a few hours online, my mind goes blank anyways. Maybe my brain cells are just, like, dying.

Dinner back home with the family for my birthday.
Wishing my mum was there as well.

Leaving later today for Penang. Little weekend break with the boyfriend. I know I’ve been here an entire month, but I still haven’t had enough of this place. Is moving here permanently a smart thing to do?
Haven’t slept all night. No idea what’s keeping me up. I downloaded and watched all the Gossip Girl S4 episodes that are out as of now. Now I’m bored. I think maybe I’ll try to go to bed again. I don’t wanna sleep through the drive back home and leave the boyfriend alone.
