Last night, I had yet another weird dream. I knew throughout the entire dream that I was in fact dreaming and in some way, I felt like I had control over my actions. It made me more confused because I am so used to being a spectator, instead of a participant. Unless that feeling itself was just a part of my dream. I know, confusing.
Dreams have fascinated people for thousands of years. Chances are that you have probably found yourself puzzling over the mysterious contents of your own dream, or perhaps you’ve wondered why you dream at all.
Why do we dream? What purpose do dreams have? And do they affect us in any way? Of all the research that has been done on the many things that are a part of our lives, the fact that we do not yet understand the purpose of dreams seems a little peculiar.
Do you think that maybe someday, someone would be able to figure it all out? Or that technology would allow us to have control over our dreams and it would then be as real as our waking life right now?
“They say that dreams are only real as long as they last. Couldn’t you say the same thing about life?”
“The trick is to combine your waking rational abilities with the infinite possibilities of your dreams. Because, if you can do that, you can do anything.”
“Did you ever have a job that you hated and worked real hard at? A long, hard day of work. Finally you get to go home, get in bed, close your eyes and immediately you wake up and realize that the whole day at work had been a dream. It’s bad enough that you sell your waking life for minimum wage, but now they get your dreams for free.”
